Assistant Director of Human Resources 

 

General Duties:

 

The Assistant Director reports to the Human Resources Director and provides assistance in the day-to-day and long-range management and oversight of the Human Resources operation.

 

Human Resources Duties:

  1. Oversee job classification and compensation programs for schools in the District.
  2. Assist with recruiting, hiring, and assessment practices for the District.
  3. Establish, implement, and monitor staff evaluation procedures.
  4. Approve and monitor the FMLA process for employees.
  5. Address personnel issues for the District and serve as the subject matter expert on personnel matters including progressive discipline and performance improvement plans when necessary.
  6. Encourage diverse hires throughout the District; assist with recruitment processes and advertisement practices to ensure diverse applicants.
  7. Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of personnel records.
  8. Serves as a project manager on special projects.
  9. Assist with determining suitability for all criminal background checks of active and conditionally hired employees.
  10. Manages human resource staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  11. Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  12. Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures

 

Payroll Duties:

  1. Maintain position classification and compensation plans and process step increases, retro payments, stipend payments, differentials, leave payouts, and other salary.
  2. Troubleshoot and solve any Payroll issues with a sense of urgency and accuracy.
  3. Ensure bargaining contract changes and exempt employee changes are incorporated into the Payroll system for processing in a timely and accurate manner.

General:

  1. Supervise a small team of direct reports responsible for the Human Resources and Payroll Departments.
  2. Work collaboratively with City Departments regarding Human Resources and Payroll items.
  3. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources and/or Superintendent.

Employment Terms:

 

This is an exempt position, with work done on-site in the EPS District Office and EPS schools. Some travel within and outside of the District is required.

Terms of Employment:

 

Twelve-month work year. 

 

Salary:

 

This is an exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
