McKinney-Vento Liaison

 

 

General Job Description:  To assist the District McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison in providing services to children and youth in the McKinney-Vento Program.  To help students overcome obstacles and barriers to receiving an education and to assist families with social services needed.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Understanding all federal guidelines as they pertain to the eligibility of children and provision of services for the McKinney-Vento Homeless Program

• Understand and have knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Act
• Assist Homeless Liaison in supporting school staff in the district to assist homeless students with obtaining documents necessary to enter school

• Assist Homeless Liaison to distribute supplies that benefit children, youth and families

• Assist with placing children in tutoring, mentoring or after school programs
• Assist Homeless Liaison in identifying students living on the street, in motels, or doubled up with referrals for food, clothing and shelter

• Network with community agencies to provide appropriate referrals to agencies, organizations, housing and health care

• Assist families with resources and services to overcome homelessness
• Advocate and expedites services to overcome homelessness
• Provide onsite training to school staff regarding McKinney-Vento services, processes and laws

• Maintaining documentation on all services provided to children and youth
• Other duties assigned by the McKinney-Vento Liaison
