School Social Worker/Clinician
Position Overview:
The School Social Worker/Clinician supports students' academic and social emotional learning and achievement. Ongoing support and intervention are provided via a multi-tiered system of support model and includes services that strengthen home, school and community partnerships and addresses barriers to learning and achievement. The School Social Worker/Clinician contributes to the school’s development of a healthy, safe, brave, and caring environment for students and adults. The School Social Worker/Clinician provides this essential support for academic learning by designing and implementing effective prevention and intervention strategies that are informed by an understanding of the social emotional development of students and the influences of school, family and community and cultural differences on student success. The School Social Worker/Clinician supports the goal of strengthening an environment and school culture that honors and celebrates diversity and responds effectively to the social-emotional experiences of every student and every family.
Skills and Responsibilities:
The School Social Worker/Clinician assumes a broad range of functions within these core responsibilities:
- Provides assessment and evaluation to identify student, family and school needs that impact learning
- Provides prevention and intervention services to all students referred
- Provides counseling services to address targeted issues impacting school success
- Participates in school based wellness meetings to identify and address potential barriers that impacting attendance
- Assists the safety of students by providing crisis intervention and triage support
- Promotes consultation and collaboration with school, family and community providers to support all students
- Advocates for appropriate family support services and family engagement resources
- Supports SEL initiatives
- Participates in professional development activities to strengthen clinical best practices
- Maintains accountability and confidentiality in communication and documentation
- Utilizes a holistic, whole-child approach in working with students and families
Preferred:
- Valid School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor license through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s Degree in other related counseling field
- LCSW, LICSW, LMHC licensure
- Experience in urban school district preferred
Salary:
Salary for this position will be in accordance with the Everett Teachers Association.
