POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Inclusion is an instructional leader that will support K-12 Special Education Teachers and promote best practices that service students with disabilities across the district. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Inclusion will plan, organize and direct Special Education programs and the current inclusion model. The Director of Inclusion is an expert in promoting inclusive education by creating an environment that accommodates the diverse needs of all learners. They will assist in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of special education programing. This position will work closely with school leaders, the Director of Special Education, and the district instructional leadership team to support Special Education Inclusion teachers with co-teaching and other inclusion models. The Director of Inclusion should possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in supporting students with disabilities, special needs, or other challenges in all content areas.

 

WORKING TIME:

 

The Director of Inclusion will be required to work 226 days, exclusive of holidays. The length of the work day will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30p.m. The successful candidate will receive a one-year contract.


SALARY:

 

The base salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Everett Teachers Association Unit A.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution
  • A graduate or an undergraduate major in ELA, Literacy or Humanities
  • Five years or more teaching experience
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification for Supervisor/Director
  • Must possess the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrators Endorsement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Vet curricular, formative assessment, virtual platforms and teacher tools for effectiveness and culturally responsiveness for Special Education in grades K-12

  • Analyze formative assessment data for grades K-12, disaggregating and presenting to school leaders, teachers and district leadership annually in order to drive department initiatives and instructional foci for Special Education programming for Inclusion teachers in Grades K-12

  • Identify, plan and establish goals and objectives related to the Special Education programs district wide.

  • Assist in identifying instructional priorities for development/improvement of special education inclusion programming

  • Provide leadership and guidance to promote high expectations and standards for quality teaching and learning of students with special needs.

  • Provide departmental leadership that promotes collaborative planning, innovative thinking and exemplary programs and services.

  • Coordinate and direct professional development activities related to Special Education and Student Services.

  •  

    Work with the principals to facilitate the design, coordination, development, establishment, and implementation of assessment procedures that produce accountability for achievement of students with special needs.

  • Collaborate frequently with instructional leadership team for vertical alignment and instructional coherence across the district

  • Design and implement protocols templates for curriculum adoption that promotes students IEP goals and provide educators with support of IEP accommodations and modifications

  • Evaluate and improve continuum of services for students with special needs, evaluation processes and IEP procedures.

  • Prepare reports and make recommendations related to personnel needs and projections; and complete questionnaires and surveys related to Special Education and Student Services.

  • Order and manage distribution and inventory of inclusion curricula

  • Provide guidance and coaching for school leaders for best practices in the inclusion learning environment.

  • Form professional relationships with consultants and professional development providers and communicate regarding rosters, materials, and teacher feedback

  • Represent the district in Special Education instructional committees at the regional and state level including 5DP Steering Committee meetings and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education meetings and trainings pertaining to Special Education Instruction

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Special Education Instructional research and methodology

  • Prepare and submit reports to the Superintendent and the School Committee relating to the progress and accomplishments in curriculum and instruction development programs.

  • Coach and train Principals and Assistant Principals in effective special ed inclusion models that meet the needs of all student groups and profiles in each building by conducting quarterly walk-throughs with building leaders

  • Analyze and disaggregate assessment data to examine the effectiveness of Special Education Inclusion Instructional programming and curricula in addressing the learning needs of all students.

  • Perform such other duties and assume all other responsibilities, which may be assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and Director of Special Education
