DESCRIPTION:

 

The Director of Instructional Technology provides leadership and vision for the effective use of technology in instruction for all Teachers and Students in Everett Public Schools. The Director provides long-range planning for the district’s instructional technology and learning support in a multi-modal academic environment, in the classroom and online. The Director will oversee the design, integration, and standardization of instructional technology to enhance learning environments in all content areas. The Director builds and sustains relationships with Teachers and Leaders to facilitate innovation in instructional technology, advocate for new ideas, and support the needs of various departments to make instructional technology accessible to all Learners. The Director works closely with academic leadership to research and implement innovative use of technologies, ensuring quality standards for blended and online learning, and assessing the effectiveness of technology
integration and impact on student learning. The Director will collaborate with the instructional leadership team, school leadership, Special Education and English Learner teams including leading the expansion of training in instructional technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides vision, leadership, and advocacy for the effective use of instructional technology in teaching including a multi-year instructional technology advancement and assessment plan
  • Works with academic leadership to development online and blended programs
  • Manages procurement and contracts for instructional technology for all schools and serves as the chief liaison between customer service management and the district for all platforms
  • Manages Clever and Canvas districtwide
  • Build out and facilitate a multi-year plan to implement digital credentialing and badging for Everett High School courses and student experiences
  • Models and co-teaches instructional technology strategies in classrooms for Teachers of all content areas with diverse student populations in grades pk-12
  • Explores, pilots, and assesses emerging instructional technologies that can transform teaching and learning
  • Lead projects to integrate the Mass. DESE Digital Literacy and Computer Science Framework into multiple content areas over a multi-year scope of projects and training
  • Develops and reviews policies for the use of learning technologies and online learning
  • Train, monitor, implement and upgrade instructional technologies appropriate to the district’s instructional mission and values, teaching and learning, blended and online programs, classes, and services
  • Provides methods for assessing the impact of instructional technologies and online and blended formats on improvement of student learning
  • Plans and coordinates instructional technology events, seminars and best practice awards related to new and innovative uses of technologies in teaching and learning
  • Prepares an annual budget
  • Attend user's group meetings, seminars, and conferences to maintain state of the art knowledge of emerging technologies, learning management systems, and online instructional design practices and strategies
  • Leads by example in providing excellent customer service; backs up team members in providing instructional technology support
  • Develops support and inquiry mechanisms for teachers to troubleshoot instructional technology
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Instruction
