POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Tier II Mathematics is an instructional leader first and foremost. This position will lead the design, innovation, strategic planning, budgeting and implementation of K-12 Tier II Instructional programming for Mathematics. The Director of Tier II Mathematics will be in charge of the management, evaluation, and coaching of Math Interventionists and the deployment of Math Intervention resources and curricula based on a comprehensive MTSS structure. The Director of Tier II Mathematics should have the knowledge and experience of making Tier II small-group math intervention accessible and engaging for all learners including English Learners, Special Education Inclusion, and Partial Inclusion Students. Additionally, the Director of Tier II Mathematics will lead the critical decision-making regarding Tier II Math Intervention points of entry, criteria, and exit criteria based on the districts’ robust formative assessment cycles and the needs of students with various instructional profiles.

 

WORKING TIME:

 

The Director of Tier II Mathematics will be required to work 226 days, exclusive of holidays. The length of the work day will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30p.m. The successful candidate will receive a one-year contract.


SALARY:

 

The base salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Everett Teachers Association Unit B.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution
  • A graduate or an undergraduate major in ELA, Literacy or Humanities
  • Five years or more teaching experience
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification for Supervisor/Director
  • Must possess the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrators Endorsement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Vet curricular, formative assessment, virtual platforms and teacher tools for effectiveness and culturally responsiveness for Math Intervention in grades K-12

  • Analyze formative assessment data for grades K-12, disaggregating and presenting to school leaders, teachers and district leadership annually in order to drive department initiatives and instructional foci for Tier II Mathematics programming

  • Supervise and evaluate Math Interventionists in Grades K-12 in collaboration with building leaders

  • Create, refine and revise district wide intervention criteria and flowcharts for small group Intervention using formative assessment data and specific Mathematics skill sets that are turn-key for building
    leaders and Interventionists

  • Vet, select and create implementation plans for Tier II Mathematics curricula that is prescribed for Mathematics Intervention groups based on district-wide criteria and flow charts

  • Map Tier II Mathematics curricula to function for end users, including account management within and outside of Clever by collaborating with the Data Manager and Director of Instruction.

  • Order and manage distribution and inventory of Mathematics Intervention curricula

  • Collaborate with building leaders to schedule and staff Tier II Mathematics Intervention outside of Tier I instruction so that creative scheduling can provide Intervention for all students including English Learners and Special Education Students

  • Design a Tier II Mathematics instructional program and staff for Everett High School using the formative assessment cycle currently in place

  • Provide guidance and coaching for school leaders for Tier II Mathematics academic programming during the instructional school day using the current WIN (What. I. Need.) Block structure

  • Research and design supplementary program opportunities and implementation including after school and summer enrichment programs in collaboration with the Manager of Extended Learning

  • Form professional relationships with consultants and professional development providers and communicate regarding rosters, materials, and teacher feedback

  • Represent the district in Mathematics instructional committees at the regional and state level including 5DP Steering Committee meetings and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education meetings and trainings pertaining to Tier II Mathematics

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Tier II Mathematics research and methodology

  • Apply for Tier II Mathematics and MTSS Instructional grants and oversee and evaluate awarded programs and initiatives.

  • Design and implement Math Interventionist interview, hiring and orientation process

  • Design and implement professional development for Mathematics Interventionists, employing third party training vendors and/or consultants when necessary

  • Prepare and submit reports to the Superintendent and the School Committee relating to the progress and
    accomplishments in curriculum and instruction development programs.

  • Coach and train Principals and Assistant Principals in effective Mathematics Intervention criteria and curricula the meet the needs of all student groups and profiles in each building

  • Analyze and disaggregate assessment data to examine the effectiveness of Tier II Mathematics programming and curricula in addressing the learning needs of all students.

  • Perform such other duties and assume all other responsibilities, which may be assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents and Director of Instruction.
