DESCRIPTION:

Everett High School Physics teachers are responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. Anatomy & Physiology teachers must work collaboratively with the EHS Science Department and Department Head throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students.  Teachers should be well versed in Massachusetts High School Science Standards, as well as Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) practices and Universal Design to ensure access to content for all students. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science and/or Education
  • Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
  • SEI Endorsement

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Education and/or Science
  • 3 or more years of high school teaching experience
  • Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
  • Experience working in an urban public schools setting
  • Foreign Language Proficiency

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and facilitating engaging and rigorous lessons that are aligned with State Standards.
  • Using all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create engaging lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills and remote accessibility.
  • Managing classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions
  • Utilizing inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.
  • Incorporate language activities into instruction including Speaking, Reading and Writing that align with State Standards for Language Proficiency.
  • Utilizing available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students.
  • Planning and facilitating lab activities when aligned with State Standards with the appropriate safety protocols and necessary training.
  • Proctoring assessments for students in grades 9-12 including MCAS and ACCESS.
  • Communicating with student families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promotetwo-way conversations.
  • Assisting in ordering and managing supplies necessary for classrooms.
  • Employing a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development that is relevant to the challenges of urban education in order to close opportunity gaps.
  • Collaborating with guidance counselors to refer students who are in need of Social Emotional support.
  • Collaborating with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered.
  • Contributing to school-wide initiatives and events which may be assigned by the Principal and Assistant

Salary:

Based on the Everett Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
