DESCRIPTION: 

 

World Languages Teachers are responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students across all grade levels.  World Languages Teachers must work collaboratively with the Special Education and English as a Second Language teachers and support staff throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. Teachers should be well versed in providing accommodations for students whose IEPs dictate services. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students. 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts
  • Massachusetts Teaching Licensure 

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Education and/ Liberal Arts
  • 3 or more years of high school teaching experience
  • Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
  • Experience working in an urban public schools setting

 

DUTIES 

  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and or volunteer(s).
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
  • Participate in staff development programs
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events which may be assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.

 

Salary base on the Everett Teacher Association CBA.
