Everett Alternative High School Adjunct Health Teacher

 

The Alternative School Adjunct Health Teacher is responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. This Teacher is critical to the success of our alternative school program for overaged, under-credited High School Students. The Adjunct Alternative School Teachers must work collaboratively with their EHS Department Heads, Re-Engagement Specialist, and Alternative School Dean throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. The Alternative School Adjunct Teacher must be flexible and willing to meet the scheduling needs of students within the night school schedule. Teachers must exercise
culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.

 

Duties:

  • Plan and facilitate Health lessons for in-person learning, remote instruction, and any hybrid model applicable to the 23-24 school year aligned with State Standards.
  • Use all available technology and virtual curricula the district provides to create engaging lessons linked with 21st-century skills and remote accessibility.
  • Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions.
  • Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.
  • Communicate with student families regularly using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations.
  • Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development that is relevant to the challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps.
  • Collaborate with the Guidance Counselor to refer students who require social-emotional support.
  • Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are adequately and consistently delivered.

Times: 1-2 nights a week - Classes will run from 2:30-7:30 with 65-minute class periods.

 

Setting: In person

 

Stipend Rate: $50/hr

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
  • SEI Endorsement
