Physical Education Teacher
The Physical Education Teacher will be responsible for providing students with a foundation of movement and fitness that focuses on locomotor and non-locomotor skills, strength, conditioning, and stretching through individual, dual, and team sports or activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Promote a physically active lifestyle. ? Develop well-structured units that meet state and national standards and develop cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship to promote normal growth and development. ? Meet the varied needs of students with disabilities, including students on the autism spectrum and emotional and behavioral disorders, by planning lessons that differentiate to their individual needs. ? Plan lessons that provide for necessary scaffolds for students who are multilanguage learners. ? Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of school/state/national physical education standards ? Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, locomotor, non-locomotor movements, individual and team sports, and cooperative and team-building physical activities to promote all students to be lifetime physical learners. ? Models and leads all students to master challenging material through effort and work in physical education. ? Encourage teamwork to set collective and personal development goals. ? Design, plan, and implement physical education lessons based on school district/state/national standards. ? Ensure the physical education environment is clean, safe, and constructive for all students. ? Assesses students regularly and adjusts practice to maximize student success. ? Passionate about their content and the teaching profession and demonstrate mastery of the content to promote a lifetime of physical fitness. ? Attend all building and physical education department meetings. ? Participate in all department and building professional activities. ? Maintain excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive professional relationships with students, families, and teachers.

SALARY: The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Everett School Committee and the Everett Teachers Association.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Valid Massachusetts teacher certification in Physical Education ? Knowledge of standards-based instruction ? Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators ? Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, equity, and high expectations for all students with an emphasis on building strengths that students bring to the teaching/learning process ? Ability to collect, interpret, and disseminate data to teachers to improve instruction and learning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Familiarity with working in an urban school district. ? Familiarity with working with special education students, including those with emotional disability and autism spectrum disorders. ? Familiarity with adaptive physical education programming for students with disabilities. ?
