EVERETT ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL ADJUNCT GUIDANCE COUNSELOR
The Alternative School Adjunct Physical Education Teacher is responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. This Teacher is critical to the success of our alternative school program for overaged, under-credited High School Students. The Adjunct Alternative School Teachers must work collaboratively with their EHS Department Heads, Re-Engagement Specialist, and Alternative School Dean throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. The Alternative School Adjunct Teacher must be flexible and willing to meet the scheduling needs of students within the night school schedule. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.
Duties:
- Work directly with the Alternative High School Dean and Re-Engagement Specialist with EPS to create adatabase of students who are eligible for the Alternative High School.
- Create needs assessments and graduation audits.
- Identify paths for students to graduate with a post-secondary plan or workforce plan.
- Build partnerships with outside organizations to support students who transition in and out of the program.
- Develop success plans for each student.
- Work with the Guidance Department Chair and Dean to ensure that the scope of the program is aligned withdistrict policies and mission.
- Facilitate student outreach.
Times: 1-2 nights a week - Classes will run from 3:00-7:00 with 65-minute class periods.
Setting: In person
Stipend Rate: $40/hr
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
- SEI Endorsement
